¿Chao o adiós?

Hola otra vez,

Many times we see in Spanish textbooks or websites the word "adiós". However, "chao" is a very common Spanish word to say goodbye, I would even dare saying that Spanish native speakers use it more than "adiós" in an informal context and with your friends.

Another  word that also has different variations in Spanish is one to say "see you later" o "hasta luego", again you can see it more in Spanish textbooks, but you can also use "nos vemos", which is one of my personal favourites.

Example of a short dialogue when meeting someone on the street:

Ana: Hola
José: Hola, ¿cómo estás?
Ana: Bien, ¿y tú?
José: Bien, gracias. Ya, me tengo que ir. Nos vemos
Ana: Si, si, chao, nos vemos
